Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mentoring Program

 Nita M. Lowey PA 21st Century Community Learning Center

The mentoring program, founded in 2010 and now in its tenth year, was developed by educator and community leader, Dr. Armendia Pierce Dixon, in cooperation with Dr. Dave Roncolato, Ms. Jamie Williams, Ms. Erin O’Day Frye, Dr. Courtenay Dodge, Mr. Joseph Galbo, III and Mr. Scott Lynch. The program is a collaboration between the Crawford Central School District, Allegheny College and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Board.

Our Mission

The mission is to strengthen the academic and personal development of middle school students empowering them with opportunities for life-long success.

Goals

  • Improve student’s academic achievement at or above proficiency. 

  • Assist students in mastering their coursework and sharpening their academic skills.

  • Increase the student’s level of confidence and independence.

  • Provide character and community-building activities.

  • Maintain connectivity between students, teacher and parents.

  • Increase parent involvement.

  • Promote a Beloved Community.

  • One-on-One Tutoring

  • ArtNutrition and Exercise

  • Workforce/Career Readiness/College Readiness

  • Character-building skills

Our Mission

Program Operation

  • ​​The Program operates Monday - Thursday from   3:30pm – 6:30pm during the school year.

  • A summer session is held for 5 weeks Monday - Thursday from 7:30am – 2:00pm.

  • Safe transportation is provided.

  • Nutritional snacks are provided.
